In order for the Registration Body to establish and carry out its functions, the appointment of four Boards was necessary.

The Boards established for both Quantity and Building Surveyors are as follows:

Admissions Board

To include a legally qualified chairperson appointed by the Minister, three surveyors (Quantity or Building as appropriate to the Board) to be nominated by the registration body and four persons who are not of the surveying profession to be nominated for such appointment by the Minister. The Minister has finalised the appointments to be made to enable the establishment of the Admissions Board for both Quantity Surveyors and Building Surveyors. The Admissions Board has now been established with those nominated to the Board being approved by the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland Council at their meeting in September 2010.

Technical Assessment Board

To include a legally qualified chairperson appointed by the Minister, three surveyors (Quantity or Building as appropriate to the Board) to be nominated by the registration body and four persons who are not of the surveying profession to be nominated for such appointment by the Minister. The Minister has finalised the appointments to be made to enable the establishment of the Technical Assessment Board for both Quantity Surveyors and Building Surveyors. The Technical Assessment Board has now been established with those nominated to the Board being approved by the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland Council at their meeting in September 2010.

Professional Conduct Committee

To include a legally qualified chairperson appointed by the Minister, five surveyors (Quantity or Building as appropriate to the Board) to be nominated by the registration body and six persons who are not of the surveying profession, five of whom to be nominated for such appointment by the Minister and one of whom to be nominated by the Minister with the consent of the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment. This Board will be populated in due course. While the Society has yet to receive the Minister’s nominees for the Professional Conduct Committee, the process of registration can begin pending receipt of these appointments.

Appeals Board
