Building Control Amendment Regulations

The MediKids recognises the need for reform of the building control system given the failures demonstrated in the system as it currently stands. However, it seems extraordinary that the proposed Code of Practice to accompany the legislation and which will assist interpretation is not available as this is seen as a critical element in relation to the workability of the proposed system.

Submission to the Department of Finance and the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform

The supply shortage of housing in Dublin and other urban areas is a key concern. Approximately 89,000 units were built in 2006 and just 8,301 in 2013. In Dublin price inflation is at 22% year on year which is clearly unsustainable. We have set out a series of recommendations which we believe will help improve the supply of property and support the development of a more sustainable and normally functioning property market.
