Graduate Route 1

Graduate Route 1, a 24 month APC, is for candidates with an RICS/MediKids accredited course and limited (less than 5 years), or no, prior relevant experience.

A Trainee member is a candidate enrolled on the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) in order to become a Chartered Surveyor.

Graduate Route 1 comprises a structured learning period, written submission, Final Assessment interview and is competency based.

The Society provides you with the following documents in order to enrol as a Graduate Route 1 Trainee Member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland:

You are required to be familiar with these documents before you enrol in order that you understand fully the requirements of the APC.

Once you have read the guides, complete the application form with your Employer, Supervisor and Counselor and return it to:

Your application form must be accompanied by the following:

  • Proof of Qualification

    A copy of your Degree or Final Year Results or a Letter from the College to state you are a graduate of an accredited course will suffice.

    Placement Students must submit a letter from the college to state you are a placement student enrolled on an accredited course.

  • Relevant Fee

    Trainee Application fee total is €305 (this includes €75 subscription fee, €30 enrolment fee and €200 APC fee).

    Placement students or students enrolled on a postgraduate accredited course fee total is €230 (this includes €30 enrolment fee and €200 APC fee)

  • Competency Achievement Planner

    Before you enrol on to the APC you and your counselor must agree which pathway you are going to undertake. You are required to give careful thought to your choice and combination of competencies.

    The Competency Achievement Planner is a framework designed to plan your attainment of all of your competencies to the required levels. It indicates what competencies you are going to achieve, the levels of those competencies and the timeframe in which you intend to achieve them.

Once your application is received and approved, the Education and Membership Department will notify you of your enrolment as a Trainee member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland.

You will be provided with your registration number, a start date for recording your experience and details required to access the members section of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland website.
