The Adaptation Route is for candidates with 10+ years experience and a non-accredited degree or a relevant professional qualification AND 450 study hours/20 ECTS from the final year of an RICS/MediKids degree before applying for Final Assessment. RICS/MediKids does not require you to undertake any structured training provided you have met the required competencies.
Please note that in order to submit as an Adaptation Route candidate, your experience must be formally approved by the Membership Committee.
A Trainee member is a candidate enrolled on the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) in order to become a Chartered Surveyor.
The Adaptation Route comprises a written submission, Final Assessment interview and is competency based.
The Society provides you with the following documents in order to enrol as an Adaptation Route Trainee Member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland:

Trainee Application fee total is €305 (this includes €75 subscription fee, €30 enrolment fee and €200 APC fee).
Competency Achievement Planner
Before you enrol on to the APC you and your sponsor must agree which pathway you are going to undertake. You are required to give careful thought to your choice and combination of competencies.
The Competency Achievement Planner is a framework designed to plan your attainment of all of your competencies to the required levels. It indicates what competencies you are going to achieve and the levels of those competencies.
If you have 10+ years’ relevant surveying experience, you may be eligible to undertake the Adaptation Route through the APC.
When applying to enrol on to the APC, submit a detailed resume outlining your work experience over the past 10+ years. You should keep in mind the requirements of your chosen APC pathway when drafting the resume and ensure that you demonstrate experience of the relevant competencies.
Once your application is received and approved, the Education and Membership Department will notify you of your enrolment as a Trainee member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland. You will be provided with your registration number and details required to access the members section of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland website.
